 PUBLIC AWARENESS MARCHES

DVAC Charlotte holds a Domestic Violence Awareness March on the Thursday following every domestic violence related homicide in North Carolina.

 

Our goal is to:

   - Pay tribute to victims
of domestic violence;

   - Emphasize the scale of the problem of domestic abuse and its effects on the community; and
   - Galvanize the community in an effort to reduce domestic violence through support of victims and intervention for batterers.

 

All Marches are held at 12:15 pm on the Square at the intersections of Trade and N. Tryon Street in Charlotte, NC.

 LUNCH & LEARN WORKSHOPS

 

As an ongoing effort to broaden the public's awareness around the issues surrounding domestic violence, DVAC Charlotte hosts its signature Lunch & Learns.

 

These FREE monthly seminars are open to the public and held on the
first Tuesday of each month from 12:30 pm
until 1:30 pm in the Hal Marshall Building-Auditorium 1, locatedf at 700 N. Tryon St., Charlotte, NC.

 

Each interactive, educational session features leading experts and/or representatives from local DV service agencies serve as presenters.

 

Participants are encouraged to bring their lunches and appetites to learn and make a difference!

JUNE SPOTLIGHT: Carolyn Moore Survivor, Actor & Inspiring Playwright

 

Carolyn Moore is an inspiring playwright, inspired by Tyler Perry. She met Tyler during the producitn of A Diary of A Mad Black Woman, where the two shared their testimonies of abuse.

 

A military spouse and mother of 11, Carolyn is also a motivational speaker, actor, director and youth drama/MIME instructor. She travels to spread her message of life after abuse through her theatrical productions and speaking engagements at schools, conferences and workshops.

 

Carolyn will give her DV testimony and share a DV scene from her play at the June Lunch & Learn.
